We are looking to expand our local team in East Brunswick, NJ. We are looking for a Web Designer (contract position) who can take brand guidelines and transform them into visually compelling, user-friendly web experiences.  You will play an essential role in the strategy, conception, and production of beautiful ideas, products, and services.  From initial brief to final delivery, you will bring exceptional creative thought and craft to your work, ensuring every design is engaging, effective, and aligned with business goals.

This role requires a strong understanding of UX and UI design principles, along with the ability to organize and structure designs systematically using best practices such as Atomic Design System or similar methodologies.  You will collaborate closely with developers to ensure technical feasibility and work with business analysts to understand project goals and user needs.

We are looking for someone with ahigh level of attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and strong communication skills to guide clients through the design process.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Lead the creative process from strategy to execution, ensuring each project delivers a seamless and engaging user experience.
  • Create structured and well-organized designs, following best practices such as Atomic Design System to ensure scalability and consistency.
  • Develop engaging web experiences that align with brand guidelines, considering typography, imagery, color, and tone of voice.
  • Design intuitive UX/UI solutions, from wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Collaborate with developers to understand technical constraints and ensure smooth handoff.
  • Work with business analysts to gather and translate requirements into thoughtful user experiences.
  • Ensure designs adhere to web usability, accessibility, and performance best practices.
  • Present and communicate design progress clearly, guiding clients through the design process.
  • Maintain a high level of detail and quality control, ensuring all designs are polished and functional.
  • Balance creativity with business objectives, designing for both aesthetic appeal and conversion-driven results.

Minimum qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing product-based websites.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing well-structured, high-quality web design and UX/UI expertise.
  • Proficiency in Figma, with experience creating design systems and reusable components.
  • Experience working with CMS/eCommerce platforms (Contentful, Shopify, WordPress or similar).
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to facilitate smooth collaboration with developers.
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD).
  • Ability to follow design principles and best practices, ensuring well-organized files and documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to think strategically about user needs, client goals, and the role of design in digital experiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.  Able to self-manage and prioritize tasks to ensure work is delivered on time with high quality.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and a desire to work in a challenging position.
  • Must be able to work remotely and travel to client site when needed.
  • Authorized to work in US without sponsorship.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with Lottie animations / After Effects for interactive and motion-based designs.
  • Ability to design PowerPoint presentations with strong visual storytelling.
