Student Software Engineer Internship for NASA Microweather Module Development The Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Part-Time Software Engineering Student Intern to join our team in developing a critical new module for our Vertiport Automation System (VAS): the Microweather Data Integration, Classification, and Communication module. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a cutting-edge field, contributing to the design, development, and testing of a robust system that integrates, synthesizes, and interprets real-time weather data and predictions. Key Responsibilities: • Documentation and Design Support:

• Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, including requirements, behavior diagrams, data models, and API specifications.
• Support the engineering team in defining system architecture components and design standards.

• Data Analysis and Algorithm Support:

• Aid in the detailed feasibility study of the proposed VAS architecture and key technologies.
• Support the evaluation and comparison of data fusion and data-based weather classification algorithms.
• Assist in analyzing data sources and assessing architectural resiliency.

• Prototype Development Assistance:

• Contribute to the development of a functional proof-of-concept prototype for the weather module.
• Assist with implementing real-time data ingestion, fusing, interpretation, and display functionalities.
• Support the integration of APIs with existing Altaport VAS modules and external data sources.

• Testing and Quality Assurance:

• Participate in testing efforts to ensure the prototype meets security and performance requirements.
• Help identify and document bugs and areas for improvement.

• Cybersecurity Support: + Assist in implementing basic cybersecurity measures and best practices within the module. • Collaboration: + Work collaboratively with the engineering team and other stakeholders, learning from experienced professionals. Time Commitment (Phase I - approximately 6 months project duration): This is a part-time internship, requiring approximately 20 hours per week. The specific weekly hours may vary based on academic schedule and project needs, and will be mutually agreed upon. The internship will run for the duration of Phase I of the project (October 2025-April 2026). Required Skills and Experience:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Foundational understanding of software development principles and practices.
• Fluency with at least one or more relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, NodeJS, Typescript, React, Postgres).
• Eagerness to learn about data integration, machine learning, algorithm development, and system architecture.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
