Position Title: Police Officer (Full-Time)
The City of Twinsburg is currently hiring for the position of Police Officer. To be considered for this position, candidates must complete and pass the Frontline National Law Enforcement exam administered through the National Testing Network (NTN).
Position Overview:
Twinsburg Police Officers work under general supervision, performing a variety of duties including crime prevention, criminal investigations, and law enforcement activities. The department consists of approximately 34 officers, with opportunities for specialized assignments in areas such as the Detective Bureau, K-9 operations, SWAT, and more.
2024 Wages:
Wages are determined by the collective bargaining agreement between the City of Twinsburg and the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association (OPBA) - Patrol unit.
Step 1 (OPOTA certified, field training rate): $29.47/hour
Step 5 (72+ months after field training): $43.75/hour
Additional pay is available for roles such as Officer in Charge, Field Training Officer, and positions in specialized units.
Work Hours:
Officers assigned to the Patrol Division work six 12-hour shifts and one 8-hour shift during a 14-day period.
Summary of Benefits:
Holidays: 13 per year
Personal Leave: 16 hours per year, available after 6 months of employment
Vacation:
1 year of service: 80 hours
5+ years of service: 120 hours
10+ years of service: 160 hours
20+ years of service: 200 hours
Paid Sick Leave
Uniforms: $1,500 annually after one year of service
Training: $1,500 annually
Education Reimbursement: Up to $4,000 per year
Shift Differential: $3.50/hour for shifts between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Longevity Pay
Health Care: PPO or HSA medical plan, including dental and vision
Life Insurance: $75,000
Wellness Program: Includes membership to Twinsburg Fitness Center and outdoor pool for employee and family
Minimum Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or GED
Certification: Must successfully complete the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) and maintain certification
Age: Must be at least 21 years old at the time of appointment
Driver's License: Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.
Other Requirements: Must meet annual firearm qualification standards and be able to operate emergency vehicles.
Selection Process:
Candidates must score at least 70% on all portions of the NTN examination to proceed in the selection process. Additionally, candidates must apply through the City of Twinsburg's website.
Additional Credits:
Military Service: 10% credit with proof of honorable discharge (DD-214)
Educational Credit: 5% credit for an associate's degree, 10% for a bachelor's degree
OPOTA Certification: 5% credit for current certification
Part-Time Service: Up to 10% credit for part-time service with the City of Twinsburg
