Dean's Professional Services is now hiring a qualified Pathology Referral Assistant to work in a Hospital Facility in Houston, TX.

A Pathology Referral Assistant is responsible for performing clerical duties, including filing, data entry, copying, answering phones, and handling deliveries of departmental and institutional mail. This position is also responsible for delivering pathology materials within the department and preparing patient tissue slides and blocks for mailing to outside facilities.

Job Duties :

· Organize patient tissue glass slides and paraffin tissue blocks in numerical order for archive and retrieval.

· Process requests to return or retrieve tissue slides and blocks from the warehouse.

· File completed tissue slides and blocks into appropriate cabinets.

· Document receipt or return of materials to the warehouse using the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

· Prepare and package patient tissue slides and paraffin-embedded tissue blocks for mailing to outside facilities.

· Create mailing labels, verify cases to be returned, and enter material tracking into LIS.

· Ensure all materials are packaged appropriately to prevent damage during transit, including bundling packages for delivery to the mailroom.

· Pick up and deliver mail, including both institutional and USPS deliveries.

· Deliver packages and envelopes twice daily to the mailroom and/or commercial carrier drop box.

· Sort and distribute departmental mail into appropriate personnel mailboxes.

· Other duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements:

· High school diploma or equivalent. - Required

· 1 year of experience in laboratory acquisitions, particularly with patient tissue slides and paraffin tissue blocks. - Required

· 1 year of clerical experience, with proficiency in computer use. - Preferred

Job Details:

· Schedule/Shift: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

· Starting at $17/Hr. (based on experience) + benefits.
