HR Coordinator and Payroll Location Huntington Beach, CA :

We are looking for an ambitious candidate to fill the role of HR and Payroll Coordinator . You'll play a pivotal role in supporting various HR functions and initiatives under the guidance of our Director of Human Resources.

This position offers a unique blend of exposure to different aspects of HR, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, compliance, and more. It's the ideal platform to build a strong foundation for a successful career in human resources.The ideal candidate should have a depth of knowledge of California payroll rules & regulations, and a minimum of 2 years managing the payroll process in a multi-state environment.

HR Coordinator Duties:

  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Perform various administrative tasks, including data entry, hard-copy and digital filing, and document management.
  • Assist in managing business licenses and insurance policies.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Conduct interviews and assist with the hiring process.
  • Utilize UKG software for payroll processing and employee record management.
  • Provide support to the human resources department as needed.
  • Assist with human capital management activities, such as employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Support change management initiatives within the organization.
  • All other duties and projects as assigned.

Payroll Duties:

  • Process bi-weekly multi-state payroll from beginning to end, including data loads for variable pay.
  • Ensure all employee time records are accurate and properly approved prior to processing payroll.
  • Act as liaison with accounting and human resource departments.
  • Process adjustments, wage garnishments, loan payments, commuter benefits, employment verifications, and manual check processing.
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Collaborate with state agencies for reporting accurate and timely information and responding to claims and audits.
  • Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
  • Interacting with all employees at all levels.
  • Assist with audits, reconciliations and reporting as needed.
  • Assist with testing as needed of the payroll system.
  • Assist with year-end processing.
  • Assist the Director of Payroll with special projects as assigned.
  • General office duties.
  • Answers and trouble shoot payroll questions from the property.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Have a high level of integrity, as they will know about the earnings of many employees, confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Strong Excel skills required.
  • Proficiency with UKG, Paycom, ADP and Gusto is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills required within the team.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of progressive multi-state payroll processing experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Accounting knowledge and experience.
  • Intermediate Excel knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to work in a confidential setting.
  • Attention to detail with the highest degree of accuracy.
  • Adaptable to change and ability to learn new skills.
  • Workday experience required.

Job Type: Full-timePay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hourBenefits:
