Founding Sales Manager Edible Oil (Bulk & Retail SKUs)

Company

A fast-growing integrated agro-industrial company launching its consumer edible oil division, backed by an operational soybean refinery in Nigeria.

Location

Lagos, Nigeria (with travel across major trade hubs)
Reports directly to: Company Director / Promoter

Job Objective

We are hiring a hands-on, entrepreneurial Sales Manager to spearhead the market rollout of refined edible oil across Nigeria. This role covers both bulk/jerrycan B2B sales and retail SKUs (sachets/pouches) into general and modern trade. The selected candidate will set up the entire sales network, manage key customer relationships, and hire the initial field sales team.

Key Responsibilities

Build and lead the sales launch of refined edible oil across all SKUs and volumes
Appoint & manage distributors, sub-dealers, and bulk institutional buyers
Establish pricing strategy and credit control measures
Recruit and manage a small team of on-ground sales reps
Ensure consistent offtake of both bulk and retail packs through trade partners
Conduct daily/weekly performance reviews and submit accurate sales reporting
Develop and maintain key customer relationships in wholesale markets and HORECA
Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and distributor health

Ideal Candidate Profile

7 10 years experience in edible oil, FMCG, or commodity B2C/B2B sales
Demonstrated success in both bulk and packaged product sales
Experience setting up new geographies or brands from scratch
Strong network among oil distributors, wholesalers, and B2B bulk buyers
Fluent in English and a major local language (Yoruba preferred)
High initiative, accountability, and discipline - no dependency on layers of management

Strong negotiation, credit control, and trade insight skills
