Job Summary

This role involves performing daily and routine operations in cell culture and purification of biotech and biological products (Kovaltry, Kogenate, and Jivi). Responsibilities include equipment preparation, process operation, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with cGMP and agency regulations.

Job Description

• Assemble and operate cell culture bioreactor systems, including control of gas supply, micro-sparger, and anti-foam systems.
• Prepare and operate continuous cell separation equipment and processes.
• Perform membrane absorption chromatography processes and related controls (e.g., buffer and NaOH supply, cTCF supply, capsule preparation, inline dilution, temperature controls).
• Operate purification systems such as chromatography, TFF (tangential flow filtration), and membrane absorber technology.
• Perform daily or routine process operations for Kovaltry, Kogenate, and Jivi production, including:
  • Inoculation and monitoring of bioreactors.
  • Processing of cTCF material and CCS.
  • Operation of Chromatography, MAEF, MAVF, and TFF skids.
  • Closed thaw process, step elution chromatography, membrane absorber, filter clearance technology, gradient controlled SP column separation.
  • PEGylation of JIVI in process material.
  • Automated bagging systems, 50L/200L/1000L collection bag technology.
  • Chemical dispensing and formulation of solutions.
  • Preparation of acids and bases.
• Perform aseptic operations.
• Take, analyze, and submit samples as required throughout processes.
• Monitor and control operations using computer control systems.
• Complete routine checks sheets and maintain clean and orderly production areas.
• Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis of equipment and process failures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform cleaning and sterilization of equipment using CIP and SIP procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills Required

• Basic knowledge of protein chemistry and purification systems (anion, cation, immunoaffinity chromatography).
• Familiarity with membrane absorber technology, viral removal techniques, and large-scale TFF and chromatography.
• Understanding of cGMP and agency regulations.
• Ability to troubleshoot and control complex processes.
• Competence in performing and monitoring processes with computer control systems.
• Ability to work in an aseptic environment.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to compliance and safety standards.
• Experience in operating automated equipment and performing root cause analyses.
• Relevant experience in the biotechnology industry in any of the areas listed may be considered in lieu of some or all educational requirements.

Education/Training/Certifications

• Completion of two years of college science courses (e.g., biology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology).
• OR a certificate from an accredited biotechnology academy.

Pay Rate/Salary

• Estimated Salary: $44.00 to $52.20 per hour based on qualifications.
