Full-time faculty work a 171-day contract during a nine-month academic year (mid-August to mid-May).Job DescriptionMinnesota State Community and Technical College (M State) is accepting applications for a full-time Electrical Line Worker Technology Instructor to begin fall semester 2025. The work location for this position is Xcel Energy in Northeast Minneapolis. The position becomes unlimited upon completion of six semesters of required probationary status.M State partners with Xcel Energy to provide the Energy Careers Academy in northeastern Minneapolis, bringing curriculum and industry experience into the classroom at Xcel?s Riverside and Hugo training centers. This partnership expands access and opportunity to individuals in the seven-country metro area who are interested in electrical line work.We are looking for an instructor who wants to share their enthusiasm and passion for the electrical line work industry. This position offers a consistent schedule with the benefit of summers off to pursue your personal interests and/or industry work.What does an instructor do?An Electrical Line Worker Technology Instructor teaches theoretical and practical hands-on skills relevant to all phases of power line construction and maintenance, preparing students for apprenticeships with utility providers. Instructors also guide students in the operation of vehicles such as digger derricks and bucket trucks. Coursework includes electrical math, national electrical safety codes, construction of overhead and underground distribution systems, conductor applications, over-voltage and over-current protection, guying and pole grounding.Salary and Benefits: The current salary range is up to $77,911. M State faculty and staff are dedicated to the values of integrity, inclusion and innovation, and share a vision of, ?A success story for every student.?Minimum Qualifications:Education Requirement:Diploma in electrical line work.Occupational Experience Requirement:Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience in electrical line work.Recency Requirement:One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field.
