Summary of Position:

We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Director of Product & Technology to lead the strategy, development, and execution of Abax Health's technology and product portfolio. This executive-level position is responsible for owning the full product lifecycle, managing cross-functional technology teams, and ensuring the delivery of scalable, high-performance, and secure solutions.

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of both product management and software engineering, with proven success in healthcare data environments. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong technical foundation, business acumen, and the ability to foster innovation across geographically distributed teams, including both onshore and offshore engineering resources.

As part of a fast-paced startup environment, the Director must be comfortable wearing many hats, taking initiative, and stepping outside of traditional role boundaries to meet the needs of the business. The ability to thrive in ambiguity, roll up sleeves, and execute alongside the team is critical to success in this position. The role also includes ownership of Agile ceremonies, user-centered design leadership, and driving the use of focus groups and user testing to enhance product experience and effectiveness.

Product Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and execute a strategic product roadmap aligned with organizational and client needs.
• Define the product vision, features, and user experience in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Drive data-informed decision-making through analytics, user feedback, and market research.
• Own the entire product lifecycle—from ideation and prototyping to launch, measurement, and iteration.
• Champion Agile methodologies to ensure efficient delivery and continuous improvement.
• Lead focus groups, usability testing, and user research to inform UX decisions and validate product direction.
  
• Direct UI design and prototyping efforts in collaboration with UX designers, ensuring intuitive user experiences and interface consistency.
  
  

Technology & Innovation

• Lead software architecture, engineering, and infrastructure planning to deliver scalable and secure solutions.
• Ensure system performance, cybersecurity, and operational reliability of all platforms.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, and data teams to promote technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, tools, and practices to drive innovation.
• Oversee Azure-based infrastructure and ensure best practices in DevOps and cloud deployments.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Manage and mentor cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, analysts, and UX designers.
• Build a high-performing, inclusive culture that promotes collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
• Align with executive leadership to translate business goals into technology strategy and product outcomes.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration across sales, marketing, operations, customer support, and implementation teams.
• Lead and support engineering teams distributed across onshore and offshore locations, ensuring alignment on goals, delivery standards, and communication practices.
• Champion design thinking and user-centered design principles within the product development lifecycle.

Operational Excellence & Delivery

• Define and track KPIs and performance metrics across product and engineering teams.
• Oversee the delivery of product releases, enhancements, and technical projects on time and within scope.
• Optimize development cycles, deployment processes, and team workflows for quality and speed.
• Lead budgeting, vendor evaluation, resource allocation, and technology investment planning.
• Own and lead Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, and Iteration Reviews, ensuring Agile best practices are consistently followed across teams.
  
• Drive milestone tracking and delivery accountability by coordinating timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional handoffs.

• Familiar with Azure Data Factory (ADF)
• Familiar with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
• SQL transactional querying
• Familiar with PowerShell scripting and automation

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of technology leadership in healthcare or tech-enabled services.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience working with healthcare data and associated regulations.
• Proven ability to lead product and technology strategies that drive business growth.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Microsoft Certifications (e.g., Excel Expert, PowerPoint Associate, Azure Fundamentals).
• Experience in digital transformation and large-scale cloud adoption (especially Azure).
• Demonstrated strength in motivating and developing high-performing technical teams.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and healthcare interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR).
• Familiarity with AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics use cases in healthcare.
• Experience in Agile, Scrum, or SAFe methodologies for scaling product delivery.
• Ability to analyze data and present insights through tools like Power BI.
• Knowledge of IoT protocols and system administration (Linux/Windows) is a plus.
